Plant life brings spiritual being into our modern world. Why? Through nature we are all connected.

Trees

Trees
Worldwide there are around 7,500 apple tree varieties.  How many trees exist on earth?  It’s one of those questions that nobody can accurately answer.  Suffice it to say; a lot.

That is one reason it’s good to have a professional design your yard.  There are so many varieties of plants that only a professional can have a good idea of what to plant.  In addition, do you know what trees are prone to disease or that need special care?  A good designer can save you many times the cost of the design.

Evergreen Trees
Pines, firs, and junipers are popular evergreen trees.  Pines and firs grow slowly and must be taken into account.  They typically have needles and cones.  Arborvitae and cypress make a good compact privacy hedge.  Alpine firs are tall and skinny pine trees that are beautifully shaped.  Some people consider the Alpine Fir to be a superior ornamental tree for its beauty.

Popular Deciduous Trees
The most popular are the Flowering Pear and Flowering Plum.  They both produce beautiful blossoms of white and pink in the spring.

Maples
Maples are a variety that is known for growing quickly.  In addition, the large leaves make for good shade.  Maples are known for turning a beautiful red in the fall.

Cherry Trees
Cherry trees are often sold in a weeping variety.  Ornamental weeping cherry trees are great for flared flower bed corners.  They bloom a beautiful pink in the spring.

Dogwoods
There are many varieties of dogwood trees and shrubs.  The trees bloom white and pink in the spring.

There are also ornamental dogwoods that are smaller and grow well in the shade and the flowers look similar to orchids.

The dogwood tree is often overlooked, but is actually a prime choice.

Crape Myrtle and Japanese Maple
Crape Myrtle trees are in the southeast and Japanese Maple trees are in the east and west.  They are both good patio trees.  The Japanese Maple is a dark red color and grows slowly up to about 15 feet.  The Crape Myrtle grows to about twenty feet and is green leafed with beautiful pink blossoms.

Eastern Redbud
Eastern redbuds are one of the first trees to flower in the spring.  They have many tiny pink flowers when in bloom.  Eastern redbuds are sometimes referred to as the Judas tree because they date back to biblical times.  They turn yellow in the fall and are drought tolerant.  Redbuds are a medium sized to small tree.
