Plant Growth
Plant Growth
You need to know the basics. Some plants grow fast and others grow slowly. In your landscaping project, identify plant growth strategy before the final design and planting.
Evergreens
Growth is very slow. It could take 20 years for a lot of evergreens to grow very tall. For this reason, evergreen plants are more expensive.
Deciduous Plants
Maples grow faster than most deciduous trees. The Lombardy Poplar can grow up to six feet per year. Willows are also a fast growing tree to use. Check the particular cultivar to find the exact projected growth.
Vines
Honeysuckle is a good fast growing plant. Ivy, since it’s an evergreen grows much more slowly. You may also consider Wisteria, Clematis and Trumpet vine.
Proper Watering
Plants that are watered properly will have more growth. Plants that are sick don’t grow as well.
Proper Nutrition
Many people fertilize their lawn, but not their plants. This is a big mistake. Fertilize your non grass plants at least three times per year. Miracle Grow is a good product to use on the plants.
Proper Exercise
Are you kidding?
Sunlight
Full sun plants grow much better in full sunlight and vice versa for shade plants. Make sure you plant according to the plant sunlight preference.
