Picnic Tables
Picnic tables are usually purchased by large families or for children.  Most patio tables aren’t very efficient at seating 8 or more people.  The picnic table is also good for having large groups over to your backyard. 

Picnic tables can be round or hexagonal in shape.  They aren’t always straight.  The round tables are very popular for sports parks and clubs.  There are many variations on the round and hexagonal tables.  Today, a picnic table is about the same thing as an outdoor table.  There are so many to choose from. Some new models even mount in the ground like a post or are made out or recycled plastic.  

Picnics have played an important part in our culture in America. Picnics have been through many changes over the years. However, the goal has always been to be a fun social gathering.

Sizes
The sizes range from 5-6 feet up to 12 feet long.

Metal
Metal tables are lighter and last a long time.  They are typically made of aluminum and painted brown or green. 

Coated Metal
Many coated metal picnic tables are more of a grid shaped wire mesh covered with a soft plastic coating.  They look very nice and are easy to clean up.

Wood
Wood looks natural and is an old standby for picnic tables.  It is also less expensive than metal tables.

Kid Picnic Tables
A good reason to get your child a picnic table is that you don’t have to worry about them tipping over in a chair.  Another reason is that children often want to move their chairs all around the yard.  The picnic table is too heavy and stays in the location you choose.
