Wicker furniture is crafted by weaving together pliable twigs, branches, or other material.  Some wicker is woven from long naturally grown twigs or branches. 

Some wicker furniture is not recommended for outdoor use.  Make sure you check to see if the wicker you are thinking about using can be used outdoors.

Rattan is a climbing plant with tough stems that is sometimes used in wicker furniture.  Rattan is also combined with wicker in a weave or used as the frame to create sturdy wicker furniture.

Some “wicker” furniture is made from synthetic resin.  It is highly resistant to the elements and is most appropriate for outdoor use. 

Some plants can be woven to create furniture with rope wicker, which has a soft, ropelike feel.

Wicker colors are mostly white, black, or brown. 

Hanging Chair
The hanging wicker chair is unique.  It can be hung from a tree.  It looks almost like it’s from another world.  It makes a bold statement.

Wicker Swing
Wicker swings are nice additions to the patio or yard.  The swing can be placed between two trees, like a hammock, or on a stand on the patio.  These swings are usually made for two adults to sit comfortably and talk.

Wicker Dresser
Outdoor rooms will need a certain amount of storage space.  The outdoor wicker dresser will look great because of the natural design.  You can put outdoor barbeque items and entertainment in the dresser.

Wicker Sofa
The dark brown color of the wicker sofa fits in nicely outdoors.  Outdoor rooms come together with a wicker sofa and loveseat. There are even wicker ottomans and coffee tables to make the room feel complete.

Wicker Rocking Chairs
Rocking chairs are some of the most beautiful wicker products.  Wicker bends naturally to the rocking chair shape.  You can get a refined look that is hard to get from other products.  The children rocking chairs are very cute and fun.

Storage Chests
Storage chests are an ideal place to store blankets and pillows, magazines or games.  Glow in the dark Bocce Ball or lawn darts might be something good to put in your outdoor storage chest.

Dining Table and Chairs
Wicker looks natural and is ideal for the outdoor room.  You don’t normally think of a wicker table, but the option is there.  If so, you may want matching wicker chairs.  It is nice to be able to have removable cushions for wicker furniture. 

Final Tips
The really great thing about wicker is that it looks natural and is lightweight.  Air can move through it making it breathable.  It feels a lot more like the outdoors than a lot of other outdoor furniture.
