Pink is the color that is easy to find in flowers. It is common and is beautiful to look at. Offsetting pink flowers with white flowers is a good way to bring out the beauty of the pink colors. Make a them and try to use a combination of three colors. Many people choose white, pink, and red or white, blue, and pink, or pink, white, and purple.
Since so many plants have a pink variety, we can’t possibly show them all. So we have listed some of the more popular pink flowers.
Roses
Roses come in many shades. One or the most popular is pink. There are many different shades of pink; as well. Some flowers are dark pink throughout, while others are white with pink tips. It all depends on your flower design.
Geraniums
Geraniums are one of the most popular annuals. They are typically planted with Marigolds in a three (Marigolds) to one (Geranium) ratio. The are a low growing flower with large blooms. They come in pink and red.
Mums
Mums bloom late in the fall. They grow 2-3’ tall. You can buy them around the fourth of July to make a brilliant display. They are grown in greenhouses to get them to bloom at this time of year. Once planted, they bloom in the fall. They come in pink, gold, and white.
Clematis
Clematis is a vine that likes to be planted in the shade. It can bloom a dark pink with hints of white. The flower size is medium to small.
Coneflower or Painted Lady
Coneflower is a hardy plant that comes in gold, lavender, and pink. It looks like a Daisy with downward pointed petals and a large center protruding.
Peony
Peony flowers are very large. The plant itself is about two feet tall. They bloom in mid to late summer. Many people consider these flowers to be quite beautiful.
Tulips
Tulips are best planted in the fall as bulbs. They come in many colors, but pink is one of the most popular. One of my favorite Tulip configuration is a multitude of triangular shapes. For color, I like one deep purple, five white, and three pink.
Carnations
We have all seen how well carnations and roses go together in a bouquet. The pink of the carnation is light and feathery. This is perhaps the most thought of color when we think of pink flowers. Carnations represent pink very well.
Lillis
Lillis are another bulbous plant. They grow up to three feet tall. They have many colors. Pink Lillis are one of the prettiest and go well with roses.
Black Lace Elderberry
This plant has very tiny white flowers with dark pink tips. It is a favorite for anyone who likes tiny things. Most children love this flower for its small shape.
Butterfly Bush
They get very large for a shrub. They grow up to six feet tall. They are known for having purple/lavender or pink blooms. The flowers are large and cylindrical in shape.
Honeysuckle
Many Honeysuckle plants have pink flowers. The Honeysuckle is a vine plant that grows quickly during growing season and dies back in the fall. The flowers have a sweet nectar in then that you can actually chew on to get the sweet taste. The sweet nectar will attract butterflies and bees.
Hydrangea
Hydrangea are one of the most beautiful flowers of all. Why? They are enormous and come in great colors. Endless Summer (lighter pink) or Forever Pink (darker pink) are pink varieties to choose from. Some Hydrangea flowers can get up to 12 inches across. The Hydrangea is a medium sized shrub that blooms in mid summer to late fall. The color of the plant is greatly affected by the soil ph. For pink flowers, the soil must be alkaline.
