Desert Flowers
Desert Flowers
Desert plants have learned to live in extreme conditions. Their flowering techniques are very unique and colorful.
Cactus
It is estimated that there are 1000-2000 types of cactus and that most are native to North America.
They grow in sandy soil. The main error of homeowners is to not plant them in soil that drains well enough and the roots will rot. In addition, they can occasionally be infested with bugs like aphids, spider mites and mealy bugs. One solution is to mix a lemon scented Dawn with water and spray the plant. You can also buy insecticidal soaps at the nursery.
Cactus usually bloom white, red, or pink. Here is a good link to tell you all about cactus.
